I started to work with Martel team on the EU Horizon2020 project, 5G-DRIVE, in September 2018, which is a collaboration project between the EU and China. The China Mobile 5G large-scale trial project twins successfully with the EC’s 5G-DRIVE project. Such cooperation has gained acknowledgement from both the Chinese government and European Commission, regarding its impact on facilitating the EU-China 5G collaboration. During the cooperation process, Ms. Kai Zhang, as a representative of Martel, acts as the EU-China relationship manager between two projects, has actively engaged and interacted with China Mobile, the coordinator of the twin project, as well as its various Chinese partners. The meaningful communication and liaison has led to a number of cooperation outcomes, such as the signing of the cooperation agreement at the start of the project (witnessed by the EC and the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), multiple joint cooperation meetings and strategic discussions, which bridged both sides to the fruitful technical cooperation.
